Dr. Kim Hoogeveen

The vast majority of MindSet’s content has been written and developed by CEO and Psychologist, Dr. Kim Hoogeveen. Dr. Hoogeveen was the founding President & CEO of QLI, an exceptional rehabilitation center for young adults with brain injury or severe physical disability.  Under his leadership, which began in 1987, QLI grew to be the nation’s largest specialized center of its kind, developing over $75,000,000 in facilities, employing over 500 staff, and gaining a national reputation for clinical excellence. With his interest in organizational and behavioral psychology, combined with an unusual opportunity to learn from many of the most successful business, political, and military leaders in the region, Dr. Hoogeveen developed a coherent model for organizational leadership based on his Seven Principles of Leadership.

"Real World" Experience

The results at QLI (which are especially impressive given that QLI operates in an industry not typically known for sparkling work cultures) have been remarkable: outstanding financial success, a staff turnover rate one-fourth the industry average, record-setting customer satisfaction ratings, and of having been FIVE times recognized as the #1 Best Place to Work in Omaha (2005, 2006, 2007, 2010 and again in 2015)…and by a substantial margin.

The Result: MindSet

The driving force for these achievements has been MindSet, the genesis for which came when Dr. Hoogeveen was approached by several top corporate leaders who were disenchanted with the trendy and traditional leadership training programs they were being offered.  These leaders wanted to learn more about the applied and functional leadership approach that Kim had developed that was producing such exceptional results at QLI.  As a result of that interest and encouragement, Dr. Hoogeveen created MindSet.

Experience in the Board Room and Community

Dr. Hoogeveen brings an unusual background to the development of this powerful leadership training, consultation, and coaching program.  In addition to his many years of experience as a CEO and psychologist, Dr. Hoogeveen has over twenty years of experience as a labor mediator and arbitrator.  He has served on the advisory boards of local businesses and a local university, has twice been awarded the Champion for Children designation of his hometown of Bellevue, NE, has served on several state boards, was awarded Goodwill’s Nebraska Man of the Year designation, and, in recognition of his wide-ranging professional accomplishments, in 2009 he became the youngest individual ever inducted into the prestigious Ak-Sar-Ben Court of Honor.
